asked the Postmaster-General what were the surpluses of in- come over expenditure on the postal, telegraph, and telephone services, respectively, for the year 1930–31 as they will appear in the commercial accounts?

Mr. ATTLEE

The surplus on the postal service was £9,884,000, and on the telephone service, £270,000. The loss on the telegraph service was £997,000. These figures are still subject to adjustment.
