HC Deb 15 July 1931 vol 255 cc442-3
28. Mr. QUIBELL

asked the Minister of Transport whether it is intended to proceed with the proposed alterations to Liverpool Street Station and the electrification of the railway serving the East End of London and the Eastern counties; and will he inform the House what has become of the plans drawn up in connection with the scheme?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

I am informed by the London and North Eastern Railway Company that they are actively considering the question of such developments at Liverpool Street Station and in the former Great Eastern Railway area, and that in the event of the London Passenger Transport Bill becoming law it is anticipated that a scheme will be ready for submission to the Standing Joint Committee of the proposed Transport Board and the amalgamated railway companies which would be set up under the Bill to consider such proposals affecting their joint interests. The company add that in the meanwhile the work of preparing the scheme is not being held up.

Sir K. WOOD

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether he has discovered what has happened to the scheme of the hon. Baronet the Member for Smethwick (Sir O. Mosley)—the £70,000,000 scheme?
