HC Deb 29 January 1931 vol 247 c1135
30. Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Home Secretary how many refugees from Spain attempted to land in this country after the recent attempt at revolution; how many actually came to the ports of this country; and whether they were allowed to stay?

Mr. CLYNES

I know of no cases to which the phrase "Spanish refugee" can be applied other than the two referred to in the answer given to the hon. and gallant Member for Maidstone (Commander Bellairs) on the 22nd instant.

Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

May I ask whether these two persons wished to stay in this country?

Mr. CLYNES

No, that is not according to the general evidence which I have. I shall be glad to supply to my hon. and gallant Friend full information on these two cases.
