asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the capacity of accommodation for sub-lieutenants in the gunnery establishment, Whale Island, Portsmouth; and the number accommodated there during the time that five mates were undergoing their gunnery course at Devonport in 1930?

Mr. ALEXANDER

Accommodation exists at Whale Island for 76 sub-lieutenants. A maximum of 68 sub-lieutenants was accommodated during the period in 1930 when acting mates were undergoing their gunnery course at Devonport.
