§ 16. Captain W. G. HALL
asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if his atten- 949 tion has been called to the fact that liberty men from the aircraft carrier "Courageous" at Spithead are charged 9d. each time they go ashore; and whether, as this charge bears hardly on the men, facilities can be given for the use of dockyard craft for this purpose?
Is it not a fact that the men can always go ashore in ship's boats, but that, owing to the distance from the shore, they prefer to use private paddle steamers?
§ Captain HALL
Is the hon. Gentleman aware that the only craft that are available from this ship are drifters which take often considerable time to reach the shore?
