HC Deb 27 January 1931 vol 247 c776
13. Sir CHARLES CAYZER

asked the President of the Board of Trade the total value of orders placed by foreign firms or Governments for British aircraft and British aero-engines, respectively, since September, 1929?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

I have consulted the Secretary of State for Air, but I regret that no figures are available in his Department or in mine which would show the total value of orders for the period in question. The total value of the exports, however, from the United Kingdom to foreign countries of complete aeroplanes and of aeroplane engines, registered during the period September, 1929, to December, 1930, both inclusive, was £400,000 and £446,000 respectively.

Sir C. CAYZER

Does the right hon. Gentleman not consider that these exports can be entirely attributed to the British victory in the Schneider Trophy race of 1929?
