HC Deb 22 January 1931 vol 247 c364
73. Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he can state the present ratio of prices between imported oil fuel for the use of His Majesty's Government and fuel of similar grade and calorific value distilled from British coal?

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

The only purchases of coal oil that have been made by His Majesty's Government have been in small quantities for experimental purposes. No practical comparison of prices with those of imported oil fuel can therefore be made.
