HC Deb 22 January 1931 vol 247 c362
67. Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the Inland Revenue Department has, at any time within the last few years, studied the exact gain to the Exchequer if the co-operative societies paid Income Tax on the same basis as private traders; and, if so, what was the result of such investigation?

Mr. P. SNOWDEN

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which was given to the hon. and gallant Member for Wycombe (Sir A. Knox) on the 8th May last. I am sending him a copy of that reply.
