HC Deb 24 February 1931 vol 248 c1946
42. Mr. SULLIVAN

asked the Secretary for Mines the amount paid by coal owners in Lanarkshire in mining royalties and rates for the five years ending December, 1930?

The SECRETARY for MINES (Mr. Shinwell)

I regret that the information in regard to royalties and local rates is not available by counties. During the five years 1925 and 1927–30, particulars for 1928 are not available, the estimated total amount of royalties paid by colliery owners in Scotland as a whole was nearly £4¼ millions, and the total amount of local rates approximately £945,000.
