HC Deb 18 February 1931 vol 248 cc1225-6
11. Sir NICHOLAS GRATTAN-DOYLE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what contribution is made out of moneys voted by Parliament to any fund for providing relief for destitute British nationals in Soviet Russia or assisting their repatriation?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

Expenditure from public funds at the rate of £120 a month has been authorised for providing relief, in suitable cases, for destitute British nationals in Soviet Russia. Repatriation expenses are paid, when necessary, but no fixed sum has been sanctioned for this purpose.

Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE.

Has not the time arrived when a definite, fixed sum of some substantial amount should be allocated for this purpose?
