§ Mr. SHINWELLYes, Sir. Two safety conferences have already been held—one at Newcastle at the end of November last, and one at Glasgow last Saturday. The attendances were large and representative of all interests; and the addresses by experts on questions of safety were intently followed and usefully discussed. I intend, therefore, to organize similar conferences in other large coal-fields as soon as I can.
