HC Deb 12 February 1931 vol 248 c585
83. Mr. WELLOCK

asked the Minister of Health if he will give the latest figures of the number of houses, including re-housing schemes under the Act of last year, that local authorities in England and Wales of a population not less than 20,000 propose to build during the next five years?

Mr. GREENWOOD

The programmes so far received from 246 local authorities provide for the erection of 325,998 houses, including houses to be built under the Housing Act, 1930, during the next five years.

86. Mr. WELLOCK

asked the Minister of Health how many of the 49,703 State-assisted houses built by local authorities last year were built by local authorities with a population of less than 20,000?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I regret that the precise information desired by my hon. Friend is not readily available. Of 49,052 houses completed by local authorities during the year ended 30th September, 1930, with financial assistance from the Exchequer, 35,412 were provided by urban authorities with a population of over 20,000.
