HC Deb 12 February 1931 vol 248 c582
73. Mr. EDE

asked the President of the Board of Education how many authorities have not yet received approval to their current triennial programmes, and the number of children educated out of the elementary and higher education funds, respectively, in the areas of those authorities?

Sir C. TREVELYAN

As the answer contains a number of figures I will, with my hon. Friend's permission, circulate it in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Following is the answer:

There are 26 authorities whose programmes have been received and are under consideration. The numbers of pupils in elementary and secondary schools, respectively, in the areas of these authorities are 262,342 and 14,980. There are also 24 authorities whose programmes have not yet been received. The numbers of pupils in elementary and secondary schools, respectively, in these areas are 272,239 and 19,065. It will be appreciated that a few of the programmes which have been approved do not cover the full three-year period.
