HC Deb 12 February 1931 vol 248 cc551-2
5. Sir KINGSLEY WOOD

asked the Minister of Labour the number registered as unemployed in the building trade on the last convenient date?

opinion as to the figure which might be regarded as representing the normal state of unemployment in these countries. Questions as regards the tariff systems of different countries should be addressed to my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade.

Mr. MANDER

Are there any statistics to show that Protectionist countries have been able to avoid the unemployment trouble?

Miss BONDFIELD

I have not found them.

Colonel HOWARD-BURY

What about France?

Mr. HANNON

Is it not a waste of Parliamentary time to put a question of this kind upon the Paper?
