HC Deb 11 February 1931 vol 248 c392
43. Captain PETER MACDONALD

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether the high-speed flight of the Royal Air Force has been in continuous existence since the last Schneider trophy race; what training the pilots of the flight have received: whether that training has been in land or seaplanes; and what types of aircraft have been used?

Mr. MONTAGUE

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the remainder of the question, the personnel of the flight have been engaged in research work with high-speed seaplanes; the types of aircraft used have been the Supermarine S.6 and S.5, and the Gloster 6 and 4, as well as some standard types of aircraft of slower speed.

Captain MACDONALD

Has the team for this year's race yet been chosen, and have they started training for the race?

Mr. MONTAGUE

Yes. I understand that is so.
