HC Deb 11 February 1931 vol 248 c391
38. Mr. WELLS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air if he can state the number of employés dismissed from the Royal Airship Works at Cardington since the disaster to the airship R. 101 and the number still employed?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for AIR (Mr. Montague)

I assume that the hon. Member refers to industrial employés. On this assumption the number of those dismissed from the Royal Airship Works at Cardington since the R. 101 disaster is 323 (222 men and 101 women); of these, 66 men were given notice prior to the disaster and their dismissal was not a consequence of the loss of R. 101. The number at present employed at the Royal Airship Works is 385 (292 men and 93 women).
