HC Deb 09 February 1931 vol 248 c30
51. Mr. ALBERY

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department if he can give the House any information as to the circumstances under which a number of European countries have passed legislation requiring the milling of a proportion of home-grown wheat with all imported wheat?

Mr. GILLETT

I regret that I have no detailed information. Presumably this legislation has been introduced as the result of a desire on the part of the Governments of the countries concerned to safeguard the production of wheat in those countries, and to ensure that when produced it shall not fail to find a market at a price satisfactory to the grower.
