HC Deb 09 February 1931 vol 248 c7
10. Mr. FREEMAN

asked the Secretary of State for India whether it is the intention of His Majesty's Government to make any inquiry into the treatment of political prisoners and charges of violence made against the police?

Mr. BENN

I would refer to the answer that I gave last Monday to my hon. and gallant Friend the Member for Central Hull (Lieut.-Commander Kenworthy). It has always been my practice to inquire into any specific allegations brought to my notice. Such also is the practice of local governments in India.
