HC Deb 09 February 1931 vol 248 c34
64. Major ROSS

asked the Postmaster-General whether he can now say what is the difference, if any, in the hour of delivery of the first mail from England in Londonderry city between 1914 and the present day?

Mr. LEES-SMITH

The hour of delivery of the first mail from England in Londonderry City is 11.45 a.m. as compared with 10.45 a.m. in 1914.

Major ROSS

As every slip back of an hour is of very great importance in these matters, will the sight hon. Gentleman have inquiry made of the railway companies and the Post Office authorities to see if anything can be done to improve matters?

Mr. LEES-SMITH

The reason that the delivery is an hour later is that the mail from Holyhead arrives in Dublin an hour later.
