HC Deb 05 February 1931 vol 247 cc2096-7
34. Mr. ANNESLEY SOMERVILLE

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware that a considerable number of the meters used on London taximeter cabs are still very difficult to read and that many meters are insufficiently illuminated; and will he arrange that the police authorities shall refuse to licence taximeter cabs upon which the fare lettering on meters is not distinct or sufficiently lighted?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Clynes)

A similar question by the hon. Member was answered last Monday, and I would refer the hon. Member to that reply.
