HC Deb 04 February 1931 vol 247 c1800
34. Lieut.-Colonel ACLAND-TROYTE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is yet in a position to make any statement with regard to the request of the North Charterland Exploration Company for a public inquiry to be held into the circumstances under which an agreement was entered into between the Colonial Office and the British South Africa Company?

Dr. SHIELS

The Company has been informed that, subject to certain conditions, which are now under consideration, the Government of Northern Rhodesia will hold a public inquiry covering matters relevant to the Company's claims.

Lieut. - Colonel ACLAND - TROYTE

Will that inquiry be held here or in Rhodesia?

Dr. SHIELS

Yes, here, in London.
