HC Deb 04 February 1931 vol 247 c1795
19. Mr. HORE-BELISHA

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether the one week's notice substituted for the two weeks' notice to which a dockyardsman was previously entitled, still operates in His Majesty's dockyards and establishments?

Mr. G. HALL

No alteration has been made in the regulations which provide for a week's notice of discharge being given to workpeople, but on occasions when large discharges have been made, the yard officers have been instructed to give whenever possible a fortnight's notice to men selected for discharge.

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

Is the hon. Gem tleman aware that the previous rule was that all men were entitled to a fortnight's notice?

Mr. HALL

I am afraid that there is a misunderstanding, and I will look into the matter.
