HC Deb 02 February 1931 vol 247 c1442
Mr. STANLEY BALDWIN

(by Private Notice) asked the Prime Minister if, having regard to the extreme urgency of a definite decision being arrived at by the Government, and in view of the failure of the negotiations between the factories and farmers in respect to the sugar-beet industry, he will state whether he is or is not prepared to take such steps as will ensure the continuance of this industry?

The PRIME MINISTER

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Minister of Agriculture and the President of the Board of Trade are to-day discussing the position with the representatives of the factories. In these circumstances, I should be glad if the right hon. Gentleman would defer his question for a few days.
