HC Deb 10 December 1931 vol 260 c2037
34. Mr. HALL-CAINE

asked the Minister of Health whether, when reviewing the question of rent restriction, he will consider, with a view to reducing the present overcrowding caused by unrestricted sub-letting, providing that a sub-tenant shall not be obliged to pay rent in excess of that paid by the tenant in respect of the particular part sub-let, together with an addition of 10 per cent. to provide for repairs, maintenance and management?

Sir H. YOUNG

I can assure my hon. Friend that the question of sub-letting will engage the attention of the Government when considering the future of the Rent Restrictions Acts and possible amendment thereto.
