HC Deb 10 December 1931 vol 260 c2048
79. Mr. KIRKWOOD

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps, if any, the Government is taking to prevent the fall of the pound; and whether the Government will reconsider its present economic policy in the light of its effect upon the external value of sterling?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave on the 3rd December to the hon. Member for Walsall (Mr. Leckie) and the hon. Member for West Rhondda (Mr. John).

Mr. MAXTON

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that that reply is quite unsatisfactory?
