§ Major ELLIOTAlthough the matter has been considered from time to time it has always appeared that any attempt at State control of these clubs would be ineffective. I shall be very glad to consider any suggestions which my hon. Friend may care to put forward.
§ Mr. JANNERIs the hon. and gallant Gentleman aware that there are some 200,000 of these clubs in this country, and that in the main they deal with the moneys of the very poor people and—
