HC Deb 10 December 1931 vol 260 cc2050-1
83. Mr. LEVY

asked the Minister of Agriculture when he proposes to put before the House a comprehensive policy for the protection of rural agriculture and its allied industries?

Sir J. GILMOUR

As I have already stated, various aspects of agricultural policy are receiving close attention with due regard to their importance. I am afraid, however, that I cannot at this stage anticipate when it will be possible for the Government to make a further announcement on the subject.

Major BRAITHWAITE

May I ask any right hon. Friend if the farmers may anticipate that the Government will undertake legislation early next year which will mean the absorbing of any increased production they may plan during this winter?
