HC Deb 09 December 1931 vol 260 cc1856-7
40. Mr. SMITHERS (for Sir WALTER PRESTON)

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department what is the value of orders placed with the manu- facturers during the past 12 months by Russia; and how many of these were guaranteed by the Export Credits Department?

Major COLVILLE

I have no information as to the total value of orders placed by Russian trading organisations with United Kingdom manufacturers except from Soviet sources. During the year ended 28th November, the Export Credits Guarantee Department entered into contracts covering credits for £8,581,685 in respect of exports to Russia. The maximum liability assumed under these contracts was £5,770,450.
