HC Deb 29 April 1931 vol 251 cc1623-4
55. Mr. CHARLES WILLIAMS

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he can give figures to show the number of motor-car accidents in England and the London area, respectively, during the first three months of this year and for the same period in 1930?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Short)

My right hon. Friend regrets it is not possible to give comparable figures for the whole of the country. In London, including the Metropolitan Police District and the City, the accidents resulting in personal injury for the first three months in 1930 and 1931 were as follows: Fatal accidents, 320 in 1930 and 288 this year; non-fatal accidents, 10,535 in 1930 and 9,194 this year.
