HC Deb 28 April 1931 vol 251 cc1425-6
16. Mr. ARTHUR MICHAEL SAMUEL

asked the President of the Board of Trade the details of the principles under which he proposes to reorganise the iron and steel industry in terms of public utility corporations?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

I fear I can add nothing within the limits of a Parliamentary reply to previous statements regarding this industry. The most suitable occasion would appear to be the Board of Trade Vote.

Mr. SAMUEL

Does the right hon. Gentleman remember what he said at Scunthorpe 10 days ago? Are we to assume he was merely speaking at large just as he did about the increase of the cotton trade with India, three weeks ago?

Mr. GRAHAM

I emphatically repudiate the suggestion in that question. I adhere to every word I said at Scunthorpe.
