HC Deb 28 April 1931 vol 251 c1431
23. Mr. DAY

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can state the staff of the clearing house (ex-enemy debts) at present employed either in Great Britain or overseas; and whether he contemplates winding up this Department in the near future?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to a similar question on the 1st April, which shows the substantial progress made towards the completion of the work of this office.

Mr. DAY

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when he anticipates that the work of this Department will be finished?

Mr. GRAHAM

No, I have frequently explained to the House that everything is being done to wind up the work, but that there are still many very difficult and highly technical cases under consideration.
