HC Deb 27 April 1931 vol 251 cc1351-2
9. Mr. FREEMAN

asked the Secretary of State for India how many of the 816 political prisoners still in gaol come under the conditions of the Delhi agreement for release; and when the remainder will be set free?

Mr. BENN

The number of persons convicted of offences in connection with the civil disobedience movement still in jail is 729, of whom 716 are not eligible for amnesty. The cases of the remaining 13 and of five additional persons convicted since the amnesty for offences committed prior to it are under consideration.
