HC Deb 22 April 1931 vol 251 cc962-3
23. Captain P. MACDONALD

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he can now make a statement as to the policy of the Government in regard to airship construction?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for AIR (Mr. Montague)

I am not yet in a position to add anything to the reply which I gave to my hon. Friend, the Member for Central Southwark (Mr. Day), on the 15th instant.

Mr. DAY

When will a reply be available?

Mr. MONTAGUE

I hope before long. The Report deals with matters for which the Government must be given ample time for very careful consideration.

Captain MACDONALD

In view of the very high cost of maintaining these air bases, will the hon. Gentleman expedite a decision in the matter? If I put a question in a week's time, will he answer it?

Mr. MONTAGUE

I will.
