31. Vice-Admiral TAYLOR

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can make a statement as to the position of the Franco-Italian naval agreement?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

The drafting committee re-assembled on the 15th April, after their Easter adjojurnment, and are engaged in preparing the declarations which are to give effect to the bases of agreement. Certain difficulties that have arisen are under consideration between the three Governments represented on the committee.

Sir K. WOOD

Is there any foundation for the statement that the British Government do not want to proceed at the present time?

Mr. HENDERSON

None whatever.
