HC Deb 20 April 1931 vol 251 c588
32. Mr. SMITHERS

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs how many of the 54 member States of the League of Nations are now in diplomatic relations with the Government of Soviet Russia; and what are their names?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

Sixteen foreign States, members of the League of Nations, are in normal diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union. I am circulating a list of the names in the OFFICIAL REPORT. In addition, Czechoslovakia, though not in formal diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union, maintains "de facto" relations, and formal diplomatic relations between China and the Soviet Union remain suspended.

The following are the names:

Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania Norway, Persia, Poland, Sweden, and Uruguay.
