§ 23. Mr. SHAKESPEAREasked the Minister of Health the number of houses for which Government subsidy was payable built in 1927, 1928, 1929, and 1930, and the estimated number for 1931, distinguishing those built by private enterprise and those by local authorities?
§ Mr. GREENWOODFor the figures of past years, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply recently given to the hon. Member for Blackpool (Sir W. de Frece), a copy of which I am sending to him. It is estimated that between 450,000 and 500,000 houses will be provided with State assistance in the coming five years, and it is hoped that approximately one-fifth of them may be completed in the first year. No separate estimate can be given of the number to he provided by private enterprise.
