§ 28. Mr. DAYasked the Minister of Health whether he has received complaints regarding the emission of in- 339 jurious fumes, smoke, and dust from the Southern Railway Company's carriage works at Lancing, Sussex; and what steps his Department are taking to prevent this nuisance to the surrounding inhabitants?
§ Mr. GREENWOODI have had no complaint since the reply to my hon. Friend's question of the 4th December, and the district council inform me that during recent months there has been no emission of smoke constituting a nuisance under the Public Health Act. They add that the smoke emitted is mainly from the electricity generating plant, which, it is hoped, will be superseded when power from bulk supply is available.
§ Mr. GREENWOODI believe—I will not be quite sure—since my hon. Friend put down this question.
