HC Deb 16 April 1931 vol 251 cc341-2
32. Mr. WEST

asked the Minister of Health how many houses are to be built under the five-year programme by the London County Council, the Metropolitan Borough Councils, and Kensington Borough Council, respectively?

Mr. GREENWOOD

The figures are:

London County Council 32,570
Metropolitan Borough Councils 10,860
Kensington Metropolitan Borough Council 82

Mr. WEST

Do the figures which my right hon. Friend has given for the London County Council show an increase as compared with the figures for houses built by the London County Council during the previous five years?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I think I am right in saying that the five-year programme of the London County Council from now onwards is 33à¡©per cent, higher than in the first five years.

Mr. WEST

Does the figure of 82, which my right hon. Friend has given for the Royal Borough of Kensington, show an increase as compared with the previous five years?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I could not say, but I may inform my hon. Friend that, as the result of representations, the borough council is again considering its programme.

Viscountess ASTOR

Is it not the case that so far the only houses built have been paper houses?
