HC Deb 15 April 1931 vol 251 cc174-5
26. Commander BLLAIRS

asked the First Commissioner of Works to what extent Russian timber was bought by his Department in 1930; and whether he is substituting any other timber for it in 1931?

Mr. LANSBURY

The value of the timber of Russian origin purchased direct by the Department during the year 1930 was approximately £2,300. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.

Commander BELLAIRS

Will the right hon. Gentleman at least make the necessary arrangements for facilitating the work of his successors?

Mr. LANSBURY

That is such a long time off.

35. Commander BELLAIRS

asked the Minister of Health what local authorities and county councils are excluding Russian timber from their housing schemes?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of HEALTH (Miss Lawrence)

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the reply given on the 29th January last to a question on this subject by the hon. and gallant Member for Gainsborough (Captain Crookshank).

Commander BELLAIRS

Did that reply give any information?
