asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the number of Legations belonging to foreign powers that have been raised to Embassies during the previous five years; and will he give particulars?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

Three foreign countries have raised their Legations in London to Embassies during the past five years, namely, the Argentine Republic, Poland, and Chile. The Ambassadors of these countries presented their letters of credence on the 14th February, 1928, 19th November, 1929, and 22nd May, 1930, respectively.

Has the right hon. Gentleman received notification of any other countries that have this matter under consideration?

Mr. HENDERSON

No, I do not recall any.
