HC Deb 14 April 1931 vol 251 c15
20. Sir ROBERT HAMILTON (for Major McKENZIE WOOD)

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he con now make a statement as to what action he proposes to take to secure reparation for the damage caused recently by foreign trawlers to cod nets in the Moray Firth and to prevent a recurrence of similar damage in future?

Mr. W. ADAMSON

By arrangement with the Board of Trade, I am obtaining full statements from the fishermen and witnesses concerned in cases in which allegations have been made against particular trawlers, and when these are received no time will be lost in considering the further action to be taken. I am at the same time closely examining the general question of the protection of the local fishermen's interests in future.
