HC Deb 30 October 1930 vol 244 cc189-90
28. Colonel ENGLAND

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he still adheres to his estimate that the raising of the school-leaving age would only cost £2,500,000; and, if not, what is the latest estimate?

Sir C. TREVELYAN

The estimate of the cost of raising the school-leaving age will be printed with the Education (School Attendance) Bill which, it is hoped, will be in the hands of hon. Members tomorrow. I am not seeing any reason to alter the estimate to which the hon. and gallant Member refers.

Mr. LAMBERT

Will the right hon. Gentleman include the cost to the ratepayers as well as the cost to the taxpayers?

Sir C. TREVELYAN

That will appear on the Memorandum.
