HC Deb 30 October 1930 vol 244 c188
24. Mr. HACKING

asked the Home Secretary whether he is yet in a position to announce the name of the new Chairman of the Licensing Committee?

Mr. CLYNES

The Government are hopeful that Lord Amulree, notwithstanding his appointment as Secretary of State for Air, may be able to spare the necessary time to continue as Chairman of the Royal Commission on Licensing. Should it turn out to be necessary to make any change, I shall inform the House at the earliest moment.

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

Am I to understand from my right hon. Friend that the post of Minister for Air is not considered a full time job?

Mr. CLYNES

Every Minister has much more work to do, public and Parliamentary, than is implied by the position he occupies.

Mr. C. WILLIAMS

Has the right hon. Gentleman any information to show when the Commission is likely to finish its labours?
