HC Deb 30 October 1930 vol 244 cc193-4
36. Mr. G. MACDONALD

asked the Minister of Health the number of men who have been granted pensions under the Widows', Orphans', and Old Age Contributory Pensions Act whose wives have not attained the age of 65 years; whether any amendment of the said Act is contemplated so as to provide a pension for the wife of any person who has qualified for a pension though the wife may not have attained the age of 65 years?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I regret that the information available does not enable me to answer the first part of the question. As regards the second part, having regard to the programme of legislation forecast in the Gracious Speech from the Throne and pending further consideration of the financial and other issues involved, I fear that no legislation of the kind indicated can be contemplated at present.
