HC Deb 27 November 1930 vol 245 c1477
31. Mr. SORENSEN

asked the Home Secretary if he will state how many pedestrians during 1929 were killed on roads without footwalks in Great Britain?

Mr. CLYNES

I regret that this information is not available.

Mr. SORENSEN

Will the right hon. Gentleman take steps to see that records are kept, seeing how valuable they would be from the standpoint of preventing accidents in future?

Mr. CLYNES

I have given some consideration to the whole case, and can say that it involves extremely complicated and cumbersome procedure.

32. Mr. SORENSEN

asked the Home Secretary how many pedestrians have been killed and how many injured in the Metropolitan area by motor vehicles mounting footwalks during each of the three quarters to 30th September of this year?

Mr. CLYNES

The numbers of pedestrians killed by motor vehicles mounting footways or verges during the three quarters of this year were four, six and five respectively. I regret that I cannot give the number of pedestrians injured.
