§ 15. Rear-Admiral SUETERasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will direct His Majesty's Minister in Mexico to request the Mexican Government to state the probable date upon which that Government proposes to ratify the agreement made on 25th July last between the committee of bankers and the Mexican Minister for Finance with regard to the 16-year old default of the Mexican Government in its obligations to British investors?
Mr. A. HENDERSONYes, Sir. I am asking His Majesty's Minister to make the inquiry suggested by the hon. and gallant Member, but I would point out that the agreement has to be considered by the Mexican legislature before it can be ratified by the Mexican Government. The latter will not, therefore, presumably, be in a position to indicate in advance the probable date of ratification.
