HC Deb 18 November 1930 vol 245 c241
47. Commander SOUTHBY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give favourable consideration to the stabilisation of Naval, Army and Air Force pay at the present rates?

Mr. P. SNOWDEN

I have no intention at present of dealing with this matter.

Commander SOUTHBY

Will the right hon. Gentleman see to it that the members of the Fighting Services are not at any disadvantage as compared with members of the Civil Service?

Mr. SNOWDEN

I cannot accept the implication of the hon. and gallant Member's question that they are. The hon. and gallant Member no doubt knows that the method of calculating bonus is a complicated one, but I do not think that members of the Fighting Services are at a disadvantage.
