HC Deb 17 November 1930 vol 245 c41
81. Sir HERBERT NIELD

asked the Minister of Labour whether she is aware that J. H. Edwards, of Ealing, has been deprived by a court of referees sitting at Acton of the unemployment benefit on the ground of misconduct after dismissal by his employers for non-attendance on one day, such absence being due to the lad having been warned for duty with the St. John's Ambulance Brigade, of which he was a member, on the occasion of the public funeral of the victims of the R 101 disaster; and whether she will cause inquiries to be made into the matter for the purpose of insuring the review of this decision?

Mr. LAWSON

The question raised by the right hon. and learned Member is one for the Insurance Officer, who, I am informed, has already lodged an appeal with the Umpire on certain points.
