HC Deb 17 November 1930 vol 245 c19
34. Mr. STEPHEN

asked the Minister of Pensions the number of pensions which have been increased in amount received from the Ministry during each of the last three years and the total increase of expenditure in consequence thereof in each case; and whether he can give similar figures for reduced pensions in the same periods?

Mr. ROBERTS

The information required by my hon. Friend is not available, and could not be obtained without an expenditure of time and labour out of all proportion to the value of the result, since it would involve the examination of the individual records of some hundreds of thousands of cases.

Mr. STEPHEN

Is it not possible for the Minister by consideration of the estimates in his Department to give us some idea on this matter?

Mr. ROBERTS

I am advised that the cost would be out of proportion to the benefit.
