HC Deb 17 November 1930 vol 245 c42
88. Mr. CECIL WILSON

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that smallholdings do not come under the definition of agricultural land as defined in the Rating and Valuation (Apportionment) Act, 1928, whilst poultry farms, market gardens, nursery grounds, orchards and allotments do come under the definition; and whether he will consider amending the Act to remove this anomaly?

Miss LAWRENCE

My right hon. Friend is advised that land used as arable meadow or pasture ground or otherwise so used as to come within the definition of agricultural land in the Bating and Valuation (Apportionment) Act, 1928, is not excluded from that definition by reason of its being a smallholding.
